Bandung – Former Indonesian Parliament speaker, Setya Novanto, received a parole. Novanto has now come from Sukamiskin Lapas, Bandung City. “That’s right. Pak Setnov is free from parole,” said the head of the Directorate General of Corrections of West Java (West Java) Kusnali, as reported by Detikjabar, Sunday (8/17/2025). Kusnali said Novanto has been free since Saturday (8/16). According to him, parole was obtained after Novanto received a penalty from the E-KTP corruption case through a review (PK). Novanto was also sentenced in the form of repealing the right to hold public office for five years after undergoing a period of punishment. In July 2025, the Supreme Court of Novanto PK granted. Novanto’s punishment was circumcised from 15 years to 12.5 years imprisonment. In addition to circumcised imprisonment, the PK judges have reduced the additional crimes of Novanto. PK judges changed the recall of the right to hold the public office of Novanto, from 5 years to 2.5 years after the criminal period was completed.
