Congress's position in Bihar is weak, ambitious attitude will harm the Grand Alliance: Sanjay Nirupam
Mumbai, October 15 (IANS). Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam gave a sharp statement on the ongoing tension regarding seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. He termed the attitude of the Congress as harmful to the alliance. Nirupam said that the Congress’ vote share in Bihar is only 5-7 per cent, yet it claims equal number of seats to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). He termed this attitude of the Congress as too ambitious and said that the party always uses allies to strengthen its position. This attitude of the Congress may weaken the unity of the alliance, the consequences of which may have to be suffered in Bihar elections. Sanjay Nirupam expressed deep condolences on the demise of noted actor Pankaj Dheer. He said that Pankaj Dheer left an indelible mark in the hearts of the audience by playing the role of Karna in the TV serial ‘Mahabharata’. He was not only a great artist, but also a great person and our personal friend. His demise is an irreparable loss to the Indian film and TV industry. Such artists are rarely born who set an example of humanity along with acting. On foreign policy issues, Nirupam said that Afghanistan has been a traditional friend of India. During the UPA government, India contributed significantly to the construction of the Parliament building, roads and other infrastructure there. Maintaining relations with Afghanistan despite the Taliban coming to power is the right move diplomatically. He describes Pakistan as India’s enemy and refers to the Pahalgam attack in which Pakistani terrorists killed 26 innocent people. In response, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, which will continue as long as Pakistan continues to promote terrorism. Sanjay Nirupam also reacted to the controversial statement of NCP MP Sangram Arun Jagtap in Maharashtra. Nirupam said that the NCP leadership has shown seriousness over the controversial statement of MLA Jagtap. Party chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar himself issued a show cause notice to him. This makes it clear that the NCP takes the indiscipline or irresponsible statements of its leaders seriously. Now the MLA will have to clarify his statement. This step is a necessary step towards political accountability and maintaining the credibility of the party. –IANS AKS/ABM Share this story Tags
