New -Delhi, September 14 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Menakshi Hooda, who won gold during the ongoing World Championships in Liverpool, England. Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform X, “I am proud of Menakshi’s excellent performance during the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool. She won gold medals in the 48 kg category. Menakshi Hooda won the gold by winning the Women’s 48 kg final on Sunday. Menakshi defeated Naziran Kijabe of Kazakhstan at 4: 1. It was India’s second gold on the World Boxing Championship. Jasmine Lamoria defeated Julia Szmmeta of Poland in the 57 kg category to give the country the first gold. Menakshi, a resident of the Rohtak district of Haryana, has a 48 kg of weight category non-Olympics and will not promote her ambitions for the 2028 Olympics, but the world championship title is established as one of the world’s top boxers. Jasmine (57 kg) became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the 2025 World Boxing Championships held in Liverpool by defeating Szammeta of Paris Olympic 4: 1 in the final. Nupur (80+ kg) won the silver medal, among other things, while Pooja Rani (80 kg) won a bronze medal in this prestigious competition. Earlier, oneakshi, Jasmine and Nupur won their semi -finals and raised a gold medal for the country. Menakshi defeated a luxury victory over Mongolia’s Altantesetseg Lutsekhan of 5: 0.
