Counter boss breaks into shop at Cikarang Mall, steals 48 mobile phones worth IDR 600 million

Djakarta – The theft of 48 mobile phones took place at a shopping center in the Cikarang area, Bekasi Regency, West Java (West Java). Losses are estimated at IDR 600 million. “The perpetrator of the theft of tens of mobile phones worth hundreds of millions of rupiah has been successfully arrested which took place last September at a mobile phone shop in a shopping center in the Cikarang area, West Java,” said Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, head of sub-directorate for Resmob AKBP, in his statement, Friday (204/250). PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT The offender with the initials PS is known as a counter-entrepreneur in Ciracas, East Jakarta. The perpetrator escaped when questioned about his actions. “PS, who is known as a mobile counter entrepreneur, had time to evade but did not move after officers found a lot of evidence in the form of stolen mobile phones at his mobile counter,” he said. The offender carried out the action when the shopping center was closed. The offender then broke into the storage cupboard and stole 48 mobile phones from the store. “The method is to take advantage of the shopping center’s closing hours and break the store’s security lock by force and even steal mobile phones,” he said. The perpetrator was arrested on Thursday (16/10) when he wanted to sell the stolen goods at a shopping center in the Kelapa Dua area, Tangerang Regency. Apparently, this was not the first action the perpetrator had carried out. “Not just once, PS also broke into a mobile phone shop using the same method,” he added. The perpetrator admitted to the police that the money from the crime was used as capital for his cell phone counter. Currently, the perpetrator has been named as a suspect and detained. “From the outcome of the investigation, this theft was carried out by the offender to capitalize on his mobile phone counter business. To be held accountable for his actions, the offender and the evidence have now been taken to Polda Metro Jaya,” he concluded. (wnv/whn)
