Dallas Ice Facility Shooting: JD Vance Slams Slams Anti-Law Enforcement Retoric: 'You can go straight to hell'
Vice President JD Vance has criticized inflammatory political rhetoric that targets law enforcement after a shooting on an ICE Facility for Immigration and Customs Handage (ICE) in Dallas. The attack shot three detainees, one of whom died later. The shooter also died of a gunshot wound to himself, and no Ice officers were damaged. Political rhetoric associated with violence during a visit to North Carolina emphasized that the demonization of law enforcement encourages violence. “You don’t have to agree with my immigration policy. You don’t have to agree with Donald Trump’s immigration policy. But if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell,” Vance said. “And you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America.” He further condemned comparisons of law enforcement with oppressive regimes: “If you want to stop political violence, you must stop attacking our law enforcement as the Gestapo. If you want to stop political violence, your supporters stop that anyone who disagrees is a Nazi. If you want to stop political violence, you must look in the mirror. Investigation and details of the attack The FBI confirmed that it was investigating the incident as a ‘targeted attack’ against ICE. The Department of Home Security (DHS) reported that the casing restored to the scene contains ‘anti-ice’ message. “Look, just because we do not support illegal strangers, we do not want them to be executed by violent assassins involved with political violence,” Varce added. “So we both pray for our ICE agents, but also for everyone who has been affected by this terrible attack.” Rising violence against ice The Dallas shooting is part of a worrying trend. DHS reported in July that assaults on ICE officials and other federal immigration agents rose almost 700% compared to 2024. The agency scored ten assaults between January and June 2024, rising in the same period in 2025. Other recent incidents include a shooting in the near Ice’s Prairand, Texas, detention, where a police officer was shot in the neck.
