Brett Goldstein, Imogen Poots Romantic Drama

Set in the Near Future, Apple TV+’s All of you JUST MIGHT REMIND YOU OF ANOTHER FUTURETIC Apple Romdram, 2023’s Fingernails From Director Christos Nikou, in Which Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed Test Their Love by Having their Fingernails Pulled off. There is a test in All of you nor well, but this one is far less painted. Soul Connex is a Method Where You Test and Get Matched with Your True Soulmate. Or so you think.

That is the setup for the first few minutes of this Debut Feature from William Bridges. He Co-Wrote the Screenplay with Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso)who also stars in the film with imogen poots, essentially a two-hander with complications. Goldstein Plays Simon, an Affable Guy and BFF of Laura (Poots) SINCE Their University Days. Be meet this pair, they see like the perfect couple, except they just “Friends.” Simon aggrees to pay for and accompany laura to her test at Soul Connex, From Who She Hopes to Find Her True Love. Simon Refuses to take the test Himself, and tan at this point we can tell he Secretly Believes it his h who is her soulmate. But is sold on the marketing that this test will will reveal who is.

In no time, as bridges keeps pressed the cinematic fast-forton button on this relationship, we see that laura is paired with lukas (Steven Cree), who is also submitted to the test, and thus his current girlfriend Andrea (Zawe ashton) gets the idea. Relationship and Exits. Lukas and Laura Are Hitched, have a Kid and what LOOKS LIKE A Very Healthy Mariage, especilly Since lukas is a genuinely nice Guy and Good Father. But is the passion theree?

Set Over the Course of 12 Years, We see the Dynamic BetWeen BFFS Laura and Simon Constantly Play Out Against Her Actual Marriage and His Various Attempts at Love. It again is clear that has never gotten over over Laura, and a moment where she is impulsive let down her Guard, Knocks on his door 2 and instigates some hot sex confirms that CEO is questioning where the test got it right in the first place. From this point on, over the next few years, simon and laura are involved in an Affair, and Somehow Lukas is clueless. This can’t end Well, can it?

No spoilers here, but bridges and goldstein’s smart screenplay doesn’t cave to clichés of Typical Romantic Movies of this Sort. Yes, it definitely has echoes of When Harry Met Sally, But Also in It Its Own Way Recalls Stanley Donen and Writer Frederic Raphael’s Brilliant Defiction of 12 years in the Relationship and Marriage of Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney in 1967’s Two for the Road. All of youFine and Honest as it is, is not on the level of that underrrated masterpiece, but is in the suame ballpark – not a bad place to be, in my book. The Choice here is to the Simply Advance the Action in Forward Movements, Jumping Weeks, Months, Event Ahead with No Onscreen Graphic Telling US Where We Are. The script does for us, and though goldstein and poots don’t appears to age, we get the idea.

I THOUGHT IT WORKED NILELY, AND NO QUESTION WE ARE ENGaged with Simon and Laura as Both these Complex Individuals unable to Erase Connection to Each Other, No Matter How Much in Denial Be At Times. Both stars are excellent here, Completely convincing in their ouncescreen chemistry or the which soufflé falls. It never does, this if at Times it feeds a repetitive little. But is a minor quibble; this is still an Affair to remember.
