Foxconn starts Apple iPhone 17 production on small scale in Bengaluru Factory
Taiwanese electronic manufacturing giant Foxconn has started the production of Apple’s iPhone 17 on a small scale in its second largest manufacturing unit in Bengaluru, India. This small -scale production is in addition to the iPhone 17 production at the company’s Chennai manufacturing unit, reports the PTI news agency, citing people who are aware of the development. “Foxconn Bengaluru unit started with the production of iPhone 17. This is in addition to the production of iPhone 17 on the Chennai unit.” Foxconn is the largest manufacturer of iPhones around the world, and the Bengaluru factory in India is the second largest manufacturing unit for the business outside China. According to the media report, the company invested nearly £ 25,000 to set up the unit in India. According to the report, questions about the development sent to Apple and Foxconn remained unanswered. The production was interrupted earlier due to Chinese engineers who returned to their country, but the company could now bring experts from different destinations, including from Taiwan to satisfy the need. Apple’s iPhone production Apple plans to increase its iPhone production in 2025 to 60 million units, compared to their 35-40 million unit levels in the year 2024-25, PTI reports. According to the recent data, Apple ended 60% more of its iPhones worth nearly $ 22 billion in India in the financial year 2024-25. Apple CEO (CEO), Tim Cook, after the outcome of the company’s result said that all majority of iPhones sold in the US in June 2025 were met in India. The news release also mentions a S&P Global Analysis that emphasizes that iPhone sales in the United States in 2024 were 75.9 million units, with exports in March from India at 3.1 million units. The research firm also recommended that there is a need to double the shipping, either with a new capacity or the redirection of consignments for the US domestic market. Apple’s supplies in India were also witnessing a year-to-year increase of 21.5% to 5.9 million units in the first half of 2025, with iPhone 16 making the highest shipped model during the period. Referring to IDC data, the news release also emphasized that India’s smartphone market was led by the Chinese brand, Vivo with 19% of the market share in the country in the April-June quarter.
