The body of 27-year-old married woman Nikita Mahana was found hanging from a fan in her house under suspicious circumstances in Krishna Nagar area on Sunday. In this case, based on the complaint made by Nikita’s family to the police commissioner, Krishnanagar police registered a case of dowry death against her husband, sister-in-law and mother-in-law and father-in-law and started investigation. Rajesh Mahana, a resident of Malviya Nagar, Delhi, told that three years ago he married his daughter Nikita to Parth Mahana, a resident of Krishna Nagar. The relationship was finalized after the consent of both the families through the internet. She gave jewelery worth Rs 15 lakh in marriage and the wedding cost around Rs 25 lakh. In the early hours of October 19, Parth called and informed that Nikita was unwell. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital. When Nikita’s mother reached Lucknow by plane, Nikita’s body was found in Apollo Hospital. It is alleged that no member of the in-laws was in the hospital at the time. There were injury marks on Nikita’s body. After some time, Nikita’s father Rajesh and other family members also reached the place. He complained to Krishna Nagar police and demanded action. Father Rajesh made allegations of dowry harassment, assault and other allegations against son-in-law Parth, his sister, father and mother. Krishna Nagar Inspector Pradyuman Kumar Singh said based on the complaint, a case was registered on the charges of dowry death. The cause of death will become clear in the post-mortem report. Action will be taken on this basis.
