Jakarta -The provincial government of Western Java invites the Academica community to participate in dealing with waste problems. Innovation of the campus is considered a solution to the problem of waste in Western Java. West -Java -Governor, Dedi Mulyadi (KDM), challenged the campus to provide innovation in the field of waste, one of which was to the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). KDM asks ITB to process waste into renewable energy. “I challenge ITB to make an energy management system of garbage in town around the campus. We will wear it,” KDM said in a written statement on Sunday (8/17/2025). Roll to continue with the content was transferred by KDM on Thursday (7/8) at the Indonesia Green Connect 2025 meeting in the East Hall of the ITB campus. In this case, KDM showed the area where he lived in the processing of waste. Animal manure is processed in biogas so that no more residents use liquid petroleum gas (LPG). Besides ITB, similar invitations have been called to private universities. Herman Suryatman, West -Java -regional secretary, said Synergy with different parties is the key to the success of development, including solving waste problems. Therefore, private universities are expected to play an active role in helping the government overcome the problem of waste, one way through a real work reading (KKN). Students who export KKN in an environment can help the locals process waste. “In the perspective of Sundanese culture, we will only progress if there is cooperation, synergy between components,” Herman said at the National Conference of the Indonesian Private Higher Education Association (APLISI) at the Unikom Campus, Bandung, Saturday (2/8). Herman said that the amount of waste in Western Java reaches 29,000 tons every day. The Provincial Government of West Java is currently trying to process waste from upstream to downstream. (PRF/EGA)
