'Deduct salary, give leave...' When manager refused to give long leave for marriage, employee approached HR
Marriage is an important part of life. At least on wedding occasions, companies or offices are expected to be remiss in granting leave. But in a viral post on Reddit, a user revealed that he didn’t get proper leave from his company even for his wedding. The user’s post became a topic of discussion and debate online. The user said that he applied for 11 days leave for the marriage rituals and customs as well as for his honeymoon. But his manager refuses to give him leave. The user also told HR that if he wanted, he could deduct his salary. “But please give me a break,” she explained in her Reddit post. It’s my wedding, I need a vacation! The Reddit user wrote in his post that he is getting married at the end of November, and he has already told his manager and team that he will be taking a few days off in December for his wedding and honeymoon. He has already set up all his backups and confirmed that his work is complete. The user further said that when she finally asked for leave, her manager said that he could not give her more than three days off for the wedding as per the policy. He said he would have to take 11 working days off, and he has 28 days left. Now he says he will only give her three wedding days and five holidays because it is against the policy. When he asked HR, they clearly said that if he has leave left and his manager allows him, then he can take leave for 11 consecutive days. The user further wrote that he had to take this day off. It’s his wedding. Share this story Tags
