Delhi: Fake no entry permit racket busted, 19 arrested
New Delhi, October 16 (IANS). Delhi Traffic Police busted a big gang involved in preparing and selling fake ‘No Entry Permit’ (LEP). So far, 19 people have been arrested in this action, while 11 criminal cases have been registered. This action has been taken to curb the increasing incidents of commercial vehicles operating illegally during restricted hours. According to the traffic police, the department has recently carried out several coordinated operations, in which this network has been exposed which allows vehicles to drive in ‘no entry’ zones by making fake permits. During interrogation, the accused confessed that they bought these fake permits to operate illegally, so that their vehicles could ply on the roads even during restricted hours. A case has been registered against all the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (IJC) and further investigation is underway. Police believe that this network is spread across Delhi, which used to prepare fake no-entry permits and sell them to transporters. Now the investigating agencies are trying to reach the root of this entire gang. K Jagadeshan, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi Traffic Police, said that this action reflects our policy of zero tolerance towards fraud and misuse of official documents. Strict legal action will be taken against any person involved in making, using or supplying fake no entry permits. Owners and drivers of commercial vehicles are urged to obtain permits only from the official online portal of Delhi Traffic Police. Delhi Traffic Police has issued a stern warning to all owners and operators of commercial vehicles to follow the rules related to restricted timings and areas. The use of any false or altered permit will result in immediate prosecution against both the driver and vehicle owner. –IANS PSK Share this story Tags
