The Directorate of Education has issued instructions to make all government schools completely accessible to disabled students and employees. The inclusive teaching of the Directorate recently issued an order, saying that schools should develop such a framework where children with disabilities do not experience any form of obstacle or problems. It was said in the order that the ramps built in schools should be kept open and clean. No obstruction or heavy object should be placed on the ramp. Apart from this, anti-disc tiles must be installed on the floor of the driveway to prevent it from slipping so that children can move safely. It was also made mandatory to install strong handrail on both sides of all stairs. Schools were also instructed to keep classes for disabled students on the ground floor so that they did not have trouble going up and down. Classes of visually impaired students and teachers will be kept in the same building so that they do not have to go to different buildings. The Directorate also asked schools to make playgrounds and other sports activities suitable for disabled students. Schools must have toilets that are accessible to wheelchairs and that are regularly cleaned. It is also clearly stated that special educator teachers (SET) should only be involved for the education and help of disabled students. They will not be involved in other normal tasks so that their full -time and attention can be paid to children with special needs. Principals were given the responsibility to periodically check the barrier facilities of the school, and if any shortcomings are found, they must correct it immediately. The Directorate warned that if these instructions were not followed in any school, action could be taken against the officials concerned. According to officials of the education department, this step will not only help the disabled students in studies, but also move it to independent and confident. This will create an inclusive environment in schools and every child will get equal opportunities.
