Delhi: Preparations for by-elections reinforced in 12 MCD divisions

New -delhi, October 11 (IANS). The Delhi National Capital Area States Commission has begun preparations for by -elections in 12 wards of the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). These divisions include Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka B, Dichaun Kala, Naraina, Sangam Vihar-A, Dakshin Puri (SC), Greater Kailash and Vinod Nagar. These wards fall under major meetings constituencies such as Mundka, Wazirpur, Matiala, Najafgarh, Rajendra Nagar, Deoli and Patparganj. The Delhi Electoral Commission confirmed that the voters list will be updated on 1 January 2025 for these by -elections, as set out in section 7 (e) of the Municipal Corporation Act, 1957. “All additional voter lists set up until the last date of nominations will also be used for this by -election, Instructions were given to the returning officers of all the 12 wards, and they were given the task of finalizing the polling stations by October 13, 2025. Public notices have already been issued in which they invite objections and proposals from the citizens. To ensure smooth polls, Delhi and MCD officials were deployed as district election officials, ROS, aro’s and general observers. Expenditure observers will also be appointed to monitor expenses during the election process. The commission has announced several voter assistance measures, including wheelchair discussion, select and drop facilities for senior citizens over 85 years and persons with disabilities by the corporation election Delhi Mobile Application. Single Window Portion Portal is also launched to streamline the consent of the campaign and to deal with complaints effectively. A single Window Portion Portal is launched for the by-elections, so that permission for campaign can be easily obtained and complaints can be resolved quickly. The commission said a meeting was held today at the Delhi Police Commissioner, in which the security and law and order arrangements for the smooth behavior of the by-elections were reviewed. The commission will soon hold a meeting with the Delhi General Secretary, so that all the arrangements are smooth and the by -elections can be executed quickly. The election dates will be announced taking into account the festivals, exams, logistical problems and safety -related information, to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process. –Is PSK
