Deputy head of MPR supports discourse on allocating part of confiscated corruption money to LPDP

Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Legislative Assembly Eddy Soeparno supports President Prabowo Subianto’s proposal requesting that the confiscated money from corruption in the export of crude palm oil (CPO) and derivatives of Rp. 13 trillion is allocated in part for scholarships from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP). Eddy judged that this proposal could expand access to education. “One of the targets and objectives of President Prabowo’s development program is to develop our human resources into superior human resources, and this cannot be separated from education,” Eddy said on Tuesday (21/10/2025) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Deputy Principal of PAN said that education creates innovation and technology. Apart from that, education also has a role in the progress of the nation. He also really welcomed the direction of additional LPDP funds. Because in this way more people will be able to benefit from higher education. “So if these funds are allocated to increase the LPDP’s funds and budget, we naturally welcome it because more and more of this nation’s best sons and daughters can benefit from higher level education, both at home and abroad with the availability of additional funds,” said Eddy. “So that means it will spread even wider and reach even wider the country’s best sons and daughters to be able to get education paid for by the state,” he said. Prabowo previously instructed Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to increase the budget for scholarships from the Education Fund Management Institute (LPDP). Prabowo said that one of the additional sources of LPDP funds comes from the refund of the crude palm oil (CPO) export corruption case and Rp. 13 billion in derivatives that have just been returned to the treasury. This was conveyed by Prabowo on Monday (20/10/2025) during the Plenary Cabinet Session for 1 year of government at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. Ministers were present at the session. “We educate them with full scholarships, I will add LPDP, the money from the remaining savings efficiency, the money we get from the corrupters, we invest most of it in the LPDP. Maybe the Rp. 13 trillion was donated or taken by the Attorney General that was handed over to the Minister of Finance today. Maybe the Minister of Finance said in the future,” said Prabo. (amw/fig)
