There are piles of dirt near the skyscrapers. Municipal Corporation Gurugram has a huge budget of Rs 350 to 400 crore to keep the city clean. There is neither a shortage of resources nor a shortage of manpower, yet the city roads seem to be turning to rubble. This is the reason why agencies act arbitrarily and garbage is not picked up. Markets set up in verandas, parking has been affected. During the festive season, encroachment of roads to sector markets took place. The situation in Sector-31 market is such that shopkeepers have set up a makeshift market in the verandahs and parking lots of the market. From sweet shops to restaurants, stalls of food and decorative items were set up outside all establishments. This not only causes problems for the buyers but parking of vehicles has also become a big challenge. There is a large crowd of customers in the market from morning to late evening. During this period, the parking spaces remain fully occupied. Carts and stalls selling food are set up in the parking area, leaving no space left to park vehicles. Traffic system is also deteriorating due to illegal parking of vehicles on the main road. Many times traffic jams occur, due to which ordinary people have to face great inconvenience. While on one hand the splendor of festivals increased, on the other hand encroachments and illegal parking raised questions about the administration’s arrangements. The demand of the buyers is that the corporation immediately acts strictly, so that the festival shopping can be completed without any difficulty. The enforcement team takes no action. Local people and regular shoppers say that the corporation’s enforcement team is not taking any action on this issue for the past few days. Despite complaints, infringement was not stopped. Even walking became difficult because of the shops located in the stoeps. According to corporation officials, additional surveillance would be arranged in the market during festivals, but currently no special campaign is being conducted. Taking advantage of this opportunity, shopkeepers took over public places. During festivals, some shopkeepers come out of their circle and set up stalls. It is being monitored and soon the violation will be removed by running a special drive. Despite repeated warnings, strict action will be taken if rules are broken. – – RS Bath, DTP and Nodal Officer (Enforcement)
