Dhruv Jurel became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper who won a hundred a test after the Uttar Pradesh batter reached its first century on the second day of the first Test against West Indies at Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday. In the process, Jurel became the fifth Indian wicketkeeper who recorded their first Test one hundred to Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh engineer, Ajay Ratra and Widdhiman Saha. With his hundred, Jurel’s Century turned third by a designated Indian wicketkeeper after Rishabh Pant’s two in England in 2025 in fact replaced pant, which recovered from an anti-fracture, in the Indian group for the two matches against West Indies. After the fall of Shubman Gill in the bat, Jurel took on the scoreboard and forged crucial partnerships with another Centurion Kl Rahul (30 runs for the fourth wicket) and Ravinda Jadeja (over 100 runs for the fifth wicket). The right hand batter recently came to this series on the back of one hundred and fifty against Australia.
