Tinder introduced a new feature called Double Date, enabling users to work with a friend and fit with other duos on the app. The addition, now available in the United States and selected international markets, is a broader global release in July. The feature is designed to provide a more social and less under pressure approach to online date, the business says. Based on previous instruments such as Matchmaker and Share My date, which enables friends and family to participate in a user’s dating experience, Double Date sets a group dynamics to the traditional one-on-one format. How the feature works, users can activate the feature by tapping an icon in the main card pile and choosing up to three friends to work together. From there, they can keep livestock and fit by other pairs as one of the parties of the other group. Once a game is made, open a group chat to facilitate conversations and possible encounters. Tinder reports that the feature during its test phase tread, especially among Gen Z users. Nearly 90 percent of the profiles engaged in double date were from individuals under the age of 29. According to the platform, this demographic already represents more than half of its global user base and often prefers it collaborative, less formal dating experiences. Early data indicates that double date encourages more involvement. According to reports, women during the testing became three times more likely to like a few than individual profiles. In addition, users involved in double date talked on average 35 percent more messages sent compared to standard one-to-one conversations. The feature has also contributed to a small uptick with new and returning users, with almost 15 percent of participants new to the platform or recently reactivated. Tinder’s latest update comes amid ongoing shifts in online claiming behavior, especially among younger users who are looking for more interactive and less conventional ways to meet new people.
