Jagran Correspondent, Bettiah. While the entire district was filled with lights and festive atmosphere on Diwali evening, careless fireworks have become a problem for many families. From Monday night to Tuesday morning, more than three dozen people who got burnt during fireworks from different areas of the district reached Bettiah GMCH. Most of these patients had mild to moderate burns. The hospital administration kept the medical arrangements in the emergency ward smooth throughout the night. According to hospital sources, apart from burn patients, about 75 patients related to assault and road accidents were treated in the OT department of GMCH. GMCH Deputy Superintendent Dr. Divacant Mishra said that proper arrangements have already been made in the hospital for the treatment of burn patients. A special 12-bed fire ward has been prepared on the fifth floor of C block. Where a team of trained doctors and nurses were constantly on duty. He told that regarding Diwali, arrangements for additional medicines, dressing materials and beds have already been made in various wards including the burn ward so that any situation can be dealt with. Apart from this, the surgical ward of the hospital was full of emergency cases throughout the night. Children and youths have been injured in incidents such as the bursting of firecrackers, firing of rockets and grenades during fireworks. Most of the patients who reached the hospital had a burning sensation in their hands and feet. Some patients had wounds on their face. According to hospital sources, about 40 patients were sent home after minor treatment. While about eight seriously burned patients were admitted. The number of burn patients has increased compared to last year. According to the hospital administration, the number of burn patients has increased this time compared to last year. (12), burn patients like Sagar Kumar (18) of Ilamram Chowk, Anantha Kumari (02) of Khiriya Ghat, Bairiya Ravi Prakash (35) etc. was treated in OT.
