Buy brass or copper utensils instead. 2. Don’t buy black colored things. Black color is not considered auspicious in Hindu religion. Therefore one should not buy black clothes or any black colored item on this day. 3. Do not buy sharp objects. On this day one should avoid buying sharp objects like knives, scissors, pins, needles as they are not considered auspicious. 4. Don’t buy glass or mirrored items. Glass is considered fragile and unstable, so one should avoid buying items made of it. 5. Do not sweep the broom in the evening. Buying a broom on the day of Dhanteras is considered very auspicious. But sweeping the house in the evening may anger Goddess Lakshmi. So clean the house yourself in the morning. 6. Do not lend money to anyone at night. It is also believed that on this day one should not lend money or anything to anyone at night. 7. Do not keep the main door of the house. Goddess Lakshmi is said to come to the house on the night of Dhanteras. Therefore, the doors of the house should not be completely closed. 8. Do not shop during inauspicious time.
