FSSAI Advisory Fssai has issued strict consultation on the use of 100 percent word on the label of food products as it is expected to fool consumers. The regulator asked the food enterprise operators to avoid the term because it is unclear and creates a possibility of misinterpretation. Pti, New -Delhi. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued strict consultation on the use of 100 percent on the label of food products, saying it is expected to fool consumers. The food regulator said he asked all the food companies to avoid the use of 100 percent of the words on food labels, packaging and promotional material. The reason is that the term is unclear and that it is expected to misinterpret the existing regulatory procedures. Writing 100 percent on products, misleading FSSAI, in consultation released on Thursday, highlighted the increase in the 100 percent word use on food products and the 100 percent use on promotional forums. The authority emphasized that such vocabulary is not only undefined under the current rules, but is also misleading. This can create misconceptions among consumers. FSSAI covered the rules, according to the Rules for Food Safety and Standards (Advertising and Claims), 2018, the word 100 percent was not defined in any way under the rules made under the FSS Act, 2006 or IT. In addition, any advertisement or claim in sub -rules 10 (7) is strictly prohibited from affecting inferior other manufacturers or the consumer’s perception in a misleading way. Under sub-nium 4 (1), it must be ensured that claims are not true, clear, meaningful, misleading and help to understand the information given to consumers. In light of these problems, all businesses associated with food companies are advised not to use 100 percent word on food products, packaging and any type of promotional material.
