India’s second largest IT company, Infosys Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salil Parekh said during the press conference after the second quarter results that the firm will not be affected by the H-1B visa fee increase as the “majority” of its workforce in the US does not require visa sponsorship. Without sharing any figures, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh said that among the company’s US workforce, only a “minority” of employees require Infosys sponsorship for immigration. “In our US workforce, the number of people who need Infosys sponsorship for immigration is a minority, so the majority of people don’t need it from our perspective,” said Salil Parekh. How is Infosys tackling US immigration crackdown? Salil Parekh highlighted that Infosys has built several centers and hubs focusing on digital, innovation, technology and artificial intelligence (AI). With training facilities in the United States, the company aims to work with its customers without any possible disruption. “We have built a large number of centers and hubs focused on digital, on innovation, on technology and AI in the US. We have relationships with universities. We have a training facility there. With all this in mind, we are clear today that we will work with our customers without any disruption to their services and in the future,” Parekh said in the press conference. When asked about how many people are likely to be affected in the ‘minority’ section, both Parekh and Infosys Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jayesh Sanghrajka said they had “no specific information to share about the numbers” to the media. “We have the majority of our people who don’t need any Infosys kind of immigration support. What we do going forward will be guided by how we work with our customers, how we scale up what we’ve done, in terms of the discussion we’ve had about near-shore, local hiring and localization that we’ve been working on,” says Infosys CEO Salil Parekh. Infosys’ progress on hiring Infosys chief financial officer (CFO) Jayesh Sanghrajka said the IT chief is on track with his hiring guidance, which he shared at the start of the financial year. Infosys aims to hire 20,000 newcomers in the financial year 2025-26. “If you look at our hiring for this quarter, net addition is already at 8,000. We’ve given guidance in terms of the new hires for the year, and we said 15,000 to 20,000, which we expect. We’ve hired in the first half, 12,000 plus newcomers already. So, we’re on track for 00020,” Sankajra. Even though the Sanghrajka emphasized that the company took note of the uncertainty in the global environment, while the IT chief is looking strongly at customers in the financial services sector. “The environment remains uncertain, and what we see today are some changes in the global macro environment. We still see large markets, and then there is growth, but there is also some inflation, there is job creation, which is being limited in some other markets, and there are cost constraints,” said Jayesh Sanghrajka. Infosys said the newcomers are currently being on-boarded, while the executives continue to deliver in terms of project management, and the company is expanding higher variable pay.
