Donald Trump hits 'awake, destructive' Tom Hanks to West Point Drops awards ceremony in honor of the actor

It all started with a canceled award – and ended with a presidential post filled with fire. US President Donald Trump took on Monday to his social media platform, Truth Social, to attack the beloved Hollywood actor Tom Hanks. Donald Trump is shooting at Tom Hanks President Trump Tom Hanks after West Point Canceling Ceremony for the veteran support actor. The reason? The West Point Alumni Association called off a planned ceremony to honor the Oscar-winning actor with the prestigious Sylvanus Thayer Award. The award is traditionally awarded to a citizen who did not attend the US Military Academy, but fulfilled its core values: duty, honor and land. At 69, Hanks looked an appropriate choice. With roles in films such as ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and as producer of ‘Band or Brothers’, he was a long -standing lawyer for veterans and their families. But over the weekend the news broke that the ceremony – which is essential for later this month – was canceled. A representative of the Academy said it was part of an attempt to “focus on its core mission” to prepare cadets to lead and fight as officers in the US Army. It didn’t sit well with Trump. He posted: ‘Our big West Point (all the time!) Canceled the awards ceremony for actor Tom Hanks. Important move! We do not have to get destructive, waking recipients that our cherished US awards get !!! (Sic). ‘ He continued to criticize the awards in general, and they presented an overview of their ‘standards and practices’. Tom Hanks did not respond to the controversy in public. The Alumni Association praised itself earlier than someone who “did more for the positive portrayal of the American service member” than most. Whether Hanks will still receive the award private or not remain uncertain.
