Dozens of primary school students in Toba poisoned by MBG, Slimy Food Samples
Toba – A total of 84 people are suspected of being poisoned after eating Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) in Toba Regency, North Sumatra. Not only students at SMPN 1 Laguboti, the victims also included two officers from the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG). “Update 84 people (MBG poisoning),” Freddi Seventry Sibarani, head of Toba health department, said on Thursday (16/10/2025) via detikSumut. Freddi explained that 49 of them are still being treated in hospital, while the rest have been allowed to go home after receiving treatment. Meanwhile, SPPG Pardomuan Nauli, which distributes MBG, has been temporarily suspended. Currently, some of the stable students have been sent home and those who are still unstable are still being observed,” he said. Freddi added that the MBG menu served consists of sweet and sour tilapia fish, tempeh, pokcoy vegetables, watermelon. From the initial findings, the watermelon served was a bit slimy. “From the report of the team that took food samples, it was suspected that the watermelon was slightly slimy,” he said.
