Dragon Ball fans have something huge to celebrate, even after years of silence, Dragon Ball Super anime’s staff members have quietly teased the anime’s return with an X update.
The anime’s official Japanese X (formerly Twitter) account’s handle has been changed from @DB_super2015 to @DB_anime_info, hinting that the anime might soon receive a comeback announcement.
Dragon Ball Super Anime Just Dropped Its Official Comeback Tease
Even fans must know, Dragon Ball Super anime ended in 2018 with the Tournament of Power Saga. Ever since, fans have eagerly anticipated the anime’s comeback, hoping to witness the franchise’s future story arcs animated.
Instead, Toei Animation released two movies, Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroand one original anime called Dragon Ball Daima. While all three anime were big projects, the anime’s official X account never changed its handle “@DB_super2015” and kept it the same way as when Dragon Ball Super anime initially started airing in 2015.
But now, after years of silence, the staff members have quietly updated the official X account’s handle from “@DB_super2015” to “@DB_anime_info.” While the anime has yet to make an official announcement, the change in the X handle could be a sign that the anime’s staff members might be preparing for a huge Dragon Ball Super comeback announcement.
Unfortunately, considering that the anime’s staff members have only quietly updated the X account’s handle, fans may need to take this information with a pinch of salt. That said, unlike the previous one Dragon Ball Super comeback rumors, the latest tease is based on a move made by the anime’s official staff members, so there might be more to it than fans think.
When Can Fans Expect Dragon Ball Super to Return?
Even fans may recall, after Dragon Ball Daima anime ended, Executive Producer Akio Iyoku mentioned in an interview how the series would continue in the future.
“Did you enjoy watching Daima? Following this work, of course, we are currently working hard to move various things forward. The “Dragon Ball” series will continue from here on as well, so everyone, by all means, please keep looking forward to it.” – Akio Iyoku
While the Executive Producer did not mention anything concrete about the franchise’s future, there may be a reason behind it. The franchise is set to hold its DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2026 event in April 2026. The chances are that if the franchise is indeed planning on announcing a sequel to Dragon Ball Super anime, the announcement would be made public during the event.
If that is the case, Dragon Ball Super’s sequel might premiere sometime between 2027 and 2028. For now, fans can only hope that the franchise’s latest X update is a sign of good times, one that leads to Dragon Ball SuperS ‘ comeback announcement in April 2026.
