Drone -attack on jail in Sudan, 19 prisoners killed

Khartum, May 11 (IANS). The western part of Sudan was in the central jail in the city of Lemaid in the North Cordophan state on Saturday. It killed at least 19 prisoners and injured more than 45. This information was given by a medical formula and eyewitnesses. A medical source of El Obaid Hospital said on condition of anonymity that 19 bodies and 45 injured were taken to hospital. He said the death toll is expected to increase. An eyewitness near the prison building said: “Three drones fired five missiles, three of which fell directly to the prison building and the living part of the prisoners.” Another eyewitness said: “Relief and rescue operations in prison are still underway and the number of dead and injured can exceed the official figures.” So far, no official statement has been issued regarding this incident. It is told that the paramilitary power of rapid support forces (RSF) recently drone attacks on military bases and important facilities in areas controlled by the Sudani Armed Forces (SAF), including L Obaid. According to local media, RSF continued the drone attack on Port Sudan on the seventh day. The city has become the administrative capital of the country since May 2023. However, RSF did not comment on the attack. It is noteworthy that since mid -April 2023 there has been a fierce battle between SAF and RSF in Sudan, in which thousands of people have died so far.
