Drug game life smuggling at the Mumbai airport, 49 crore seizure, much arrested
Mumbai, September 15 (IANS). The Customs Division (Zone-III) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI), Mumbai exposed several cases of drugs, foreign exchange and wildlife smuggling in an action taken between September 12 to 15, 2025. In the first case, a hydroponic video of 7.118 kg (Ganja) was recovered from the trolley bag with a Tashkent passenger, which was estimated to be about Rs 7.118 in the international market. In the second case, a foreign exchange worth Rs 15.96 Lakh was caught from three passengers who went to Jeddah. In the third and fourth cases, two Bangkok passengers seized 18,025 kg and 17,975 kg of hydroponic fashions respectively, costing more than Rs 36 crore. In addition, 6,049 kg of hydroponic video was recovered from the pocket of another passenger who came in the fifth case of Bangkok, priced at Rs 6,049 crore. In all of these cases, the passengers involved were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPs), 1985. The most shocking case came to light on the smuggling of wildlife. The trolley bag with a passenger from Bangkok found the wildlife of live and dead rare species. These include 2 Mirkat, 2 Hyrax, 4 Sugar Glider, 4 Dead Big Parrots, 10 Green Basilisk Lizard, 20 Lapard Tortoise, 4 Albino Red Eird Slider, 1 Common Blue Tunged Schink, 12 Bearded Dragon, 1 Dumerills Monitor Lizard and 5 Water Monitor Lizard, 2 Quinate Lizard and 5 Water Monitor. The accused was arrested under the Customs Act, 1962 and the protection of wildlife, 1972. In general, the adjusted authorities in this four -day action seized drugs worth approximately Rs 49.167, foreign exchange worth lakhs of rupees and many wildlife and a major blow to the network of smugglers. -Ians Sch Share This Story Tags
