The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), in a coordinated operation from October 21 to 23, dismantled a major drug manufacturing and distribution network operating in the National Capital Region. During the search, 11.40 kg of amphetamine and 110.923 kg of chemical substances used in its production were seized. The main leader of the gang was also arrested from his residence in Gurugram and 1.33 kg of amphetamine was recovered from his possession. The DRI team had to drive through narrow lanes to reach the complex located in a densely populated and congested area, which posed significant operational and security challenges. During the operation, the officials faced a large number of anti-social elements who tried to disrupt the official action. Despite the presence of miscreants and the risk of destruction of evidence, the DRI team along with Delhi Police successfully cordoned off the premises and searched with restraint and strategic acumen. During the search, 7.79 kg of cocaine, 1.87 kg of heroin, 3.54 kg of amphetamine, 2 kg of ganja, 0.15 kg of methaqualone and 4.50 kg of chemical used to make narcotics, as well as Rs 37 lakh in cash, believed to be obtained from drug smuggling, were recovered.
