During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused brought opium from Madhya Pradesh and supplied it in Nawanshahr and Phillaur. He also supplied opium to his household and to another person, Davinder Kumar. The police recovered opium from both the places and are investigating the case. Accused Samvad Sahayak, Nawanshahr, used to supply opium in nearby villages including Nawanshahr and Phillaur. CIA personnel Nawanshahr managed to recover 28.80 kg of opium from a truck driver. Earlier on October 18, the accused was arrested along with 50.46 grams of opium by the Nawanshahr police station. During the interrogation of the accused, it came to light that the accused had hidden 6 kg 870 grams of opium in his house in the village of Chakka Thathiya (Amritsar) and in addition 21 kg 160 grams of opium was supplied to Davinder Kumar, resident of Kang village Rahon. Remove Advertisement Only Read News The accused truck driver has been identified as Inderjit Singh, son of Dara Singh, resident of village Chakka Thathia (Amritsar). The police brought the accused to court for further questioning and arrested him for five days. Giving information in this regard, SP (Investigation) Sarvjit Singh Vahiya said that the CIA personnel, Nawanshahr, in-charge Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary along with the police party were present at village Mahalon bypass on October 18 in search of suspicious persons in view of festivities. During this time the incoming vehicles were checked. During this time a car (PB-08-FJ-8888) was seen arriving from Nawanshahr. The police signaled the car to stop for investigation by pointing flares at it. The car driver stopped the car and identified himself as Inderjeet Singh, son of Dara Singh, resident of village Thathiya (Amritsar). The police became suspicious of the car driver and investigated the car. During investigation, the police found 50.46 grams of opium from a transparent plastic envelope kept in a box near the gear lever of the car. As a result, case number 226 was registered against the car driver under the NDPS Act in Police Station City Nawanshahr and further action was initiated. He told that during the interrogation of the car driver by the police, it came to light that the accused is a truck driver and he brings opium from Madhya Pradesh and supplies it in the areas around Nawanshahr and Phillaur. The accused told that besides this, he hid 6 kg 870 grams of opium in his house in the village of Chak Thathia (Amritsar). The accused told that he also supplied 21 kg 160 grams of opium to Davinder Kumar, a resident of Saloh village, Khoja. The police found a total of 28 kg 80 grams of opium from both places. Police said that the second accused in this case, Davinder Kumar, resident of Saloh village, Khoja, is currently in jail and he has also been named in this case. He told that earlier also four different cases were registered against Davinder Kumar under the NDPS Act. During the interrogation of the accused, it came to light that the accused is a truck driver and he regularly travels to Madhya Pradesh in a truck. The accused was well acquainted with Davinder Kumar and he used to talk on WhatsApp. Only on the advice of Davinder Kumar he brought opium from Madhya Pradesh and supplied opium to him in Kang village and on Davinder Kumar’s advice he hid the opium in a bucket in Davinder Kumar’s house in Kang village and buried it in the ground near the gate. Police said during the interrogation of the truck driver, it came to light that Davinder Kumar used to take opium from the accused. Only on the advice of Davinder, the accused hid opium at the place indicated by him and later came to Davinder to collect money. This time Davinder Kumar did not pay the money. Therefore, the accused came to take back the opium that was hidden in Davinder Kumar’s house.
