During the test, drivers are also asked questions related to road traffic and after getting their wrong answers, they are told the correct answer, what to do and what not to do in which situation. They are trained by the traffic police to ensure that the buses stop only at stops, give the passengers full opportunity to board and disembark and do not disturb any passenger. Under this system, 1000 drivers have been tested so far. Under the training, driving in safe lanes, compliance with traffic rules and such driving methods will be taught which will reduce accidents and increase discipline on the road. Special emphasis will also be placed on treating passengers well. This includes stopping the bus in the right place, speaking softly to passengers and taking care of the elderly and passengers with special needs. This training will be for drivers of DTC and group scheme buses, who together run more than 5,000 buses in the city. In this training, drivers are trained to remain calm even in traffic jams and drive their vehicles safely. Ways to avoid sudden braking or speeding are suggested. In addition, attention will also be given to maintaining cleanliness inside the bus and providing comfortable travel to the passengers. All this so that every passenger traveling on the roads of Delhi gets a good experience and feels safe. DTC has also decided to conduct medical examination of all the drivers after the recent incident in South India in which the bus hit several vehicles after the driver suffered a stroke in a moving bus. Medical examination of all the drivers will help to know whether the drivers are healthy or not and whether they are fit for long shifts.
