The Upcoming Master Plan Aims to Connect Major Landmarks within the Emirate.

Dubai is not one to do things by halves. With the likes of burj Khalifa and the museum of the future, the city is now about to witness yet another marvel. Dubai Walk Master Plan has just been announced by his highness sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which aims to transform dubai into one of the world’s most pedestrian-friendly cities.

The Dubai Walk Project Features and Integrated Network of 6,500 Kilometres or Walkways Covering 160 Areas Across Dubai. By 2040, this will include 3,300 kilometers of newly constructed paths and 2,300 kilometers of upgraded existing ones, with another 900 kilometer planned. These walkways will be further divided into three categories such as Scenic-Leaze Walkways, City Connectivity Walkways and Community Walkways.

Each walkway will reflect its surrounding areas identity, incorporating distinct designs, colors, and landscaping. Within these walkways will be art displays, missing systems, sports equipment, digital screens, water features, greenery and shaded rest areas.

A Smart Application for Dubai Walk will also be launched. This application will Encourage Walking by Letting Users Track and Share their routes, step Counts, and Milestones. The app will also offer information on walkway features, nearby events, and a reward system for steps taken – Redeemable for discounts or wallet credits.

The Pilot Phase of the Dubai Walk Master Plan will launch in 2025 and aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Quality of Life Strategy 2033, Making it a 20-Minute City Concept. It aims to redefine how we live, move, and connect within the Emirate. With this approach, Dubai is once again proving to remain at the Forefront of Infrastructural Development.
