Kolkata, October 14 (IANS). Police in Western Bengals arrested the male friend of the Durgapur gangrape victim on Tuesday. With this, the total number of arrests of accused in this case increased to six. The second year of medical student went to buy her male friend on the evening of October 10. Police said the accused friend had been arrested after contradictions were found in his answers during interrogation. Earlier Tuesday, the male friend was taken to the forest area outside the private medical college and hospital to verify the claims made by the five accused. In addition, other accused were also taken there to recreate the crime scene. According to sources, the answers of the victim were inconsistent during the questioning of the police, whereby he was arrested. He is a resident of the Malda district. Hours before the arrest, Kumar Chaudhary, police commissioner of police in Asansol Durgapur, said the role of the man of the rape victim is also being investigated.
