The Duke of Sussex, 40, arrived at Clarence House, the King’s London home, on Wednesday (September 10) for what is described as “a private tea”. The meeting lasted almost an hour and was the first time the two had met since February 2024, shortly after Charles unveiled his cancer diagnosis. Harry’s reflection on the reunion at an Invictus Games event later that day, the Duke of Sussex, when he was asked by a reporter about his father after the meeting, Harry simply said: “Yes, he is wonderful. Thank you.” Prince William, who has been alienated from his younger brother and Meghan Markle for many years, was long -standing rift, especially absent from the event. Harry had previously acknowledged that tense ties had cut him off his father. In a May interview with the BBC, he said: “My dad won’t talk to me because of these security goods … But I would love to reconcile with my family. There is no sense to fight anymore. And life is precious.” “I don’t know how much longer my dad has … but it would be nice to reconcile,” he told the BBC earlier this year. Past tensions The Duke is outspoken about his challenges that grew up within the monarchy, especially after returning from royal duties in 2020 and moving with the woman Meghan Markle to California. His memoirs and television interviews only deepened the tension. “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book,” Harry said earlier this year. Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II before the reunion visited Harry the St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle to honor the late Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death. He laid a wreath and flowers in her resting place and paid tribute to his grandmother. A step toward reconciliation? Harry’s short but positive remarks about his father offered a glitter of hope for reconciliation. The meeting then came to King Charles, 76, with cancer treatment and while Harry balanced his role as founder of the Invictus games with ongoing tension in the royal family.
