As well as the 45th trade mission by the East Java Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Khofifah. He said that this fantastic performance is proof of the high economic potential of sellers and buyers of both provinces. In this trade mission, a number of leading East Java commodities were the favorites for deals. Products in demand include building materials, horticultural plant seeds, milk and processed meat, beef, fish feed and shrimp feed, chicken meat and chicken carcasses, welding machines and machines for breaking down coconut fiber, apples and oranges, rice and mocha flour, brown sugar and sports equipment. On the buying side, East Java business actors are also transacting on a number of superior Central Sulawesi commodities, such as natural Arabica coffee, round coconut, mackerel, tuna and milkfish, coconut and cherry nuts, and random rattan. Khofifah also explained, based on data on interregional trade between East Java and all provinces in 2022, the total trade value between East Java Province and Central Sulawesi Province was IDR 4.693 trillion. Which consists of a unloading value (purchase from Central Sulawesi) of IDR 1.357 trillion and a loading value (selling to Central Sulawesi) of IDR 3.336 trillion. Thus, East Java’s trade balance with Central Sulawesi has a surplus of IDR 1.978 trillion. The five main commodities sold by East Java to Central Sulawesi are DC motors and generators with power ≤37.5 watts (29.85%), tobacco and tobacco substitute products (22.17%), ceramic tiles and paving (12.55%), truck cranes and tow trucks and trailers (8.99%). “Overall, these five main commodities contributed 78% to total sales from East Java to Central Sulawesi,” he added. In addition, the five main commodities that dominate East Java’s purchases from Central Sulawesi include perfumery, pharmaceutical and insecticide plants (91.52%), cocoa (1.91%), non-coniferous wood (1.88%), plastic goods for packaging (1.77%) and tropical and subtropical fruits (1.74%). These five commodities accounted for 97.6 percent of East Java’s total purchases. On the other hand, he also believes that this Trade Mission meeting is not just about completing deals. However, it is also hoped that the cooperation set out in the Cooperation Agreement between Regional Apparatus in the two provinces will continue. Khofifah gave an example, East Java has a total of 293 foreign exchange villages that received a decree (SK) from the Indonesian Export Finance Institute (LPEI). Through this decree by LPEI, the Foreign Exchange Village will receive a lot of added value such as coaching, strengthening of design according to market trends, strengthening of capital and most importantly market access. “Central Sulawesi has woven cloth and songket cloth which I think will have the power or potential to become a foreign exchange village. Later it will receive reinforcement in the form of market access, capital strengthening, design according to market need trends,” he explained. Khofifah assesses that another very possible potential is the strengthening of social forestry. He believes that Social Forestry in Central Sulawesi can still be encouraged and increased to a greater extent and volume. “The point is that we are in the process together. We must not be anti-change. Plus the presence of East Java and Central Sulawesi BUMD are here as economic drivers, will be a strengthening part and even a locomotive of the development process in each region,” he added. A new power that also has great potential is the Musang King Durian which has managed to grow abundantly in Central Sulawesi. He said that 85% of Musang King Durian in East Java is still imported. Meanwhile, the Musang King Durian produced in Central Sulawesi has been able to penetrate the export market. “It is therefore very possible that this meeting will open new trade doors, where the Musang King Durian type from Central Sulawesi has great potential,” he said optimistically. In the end, Khofifah hopes that the Central Sulawesi province will be able to visit East Java in the future to carry out a similar trade mission. “We have identified a lot of potential in this Trade Mission. So cooperation between agencies and between governors is an important part that we can follow up together,” he said. He expressed his gratitude to all business actors who attended the event. Khofifah hopes that it can provide economic strengthening and prosperity for the people of the two provinces. Meanwhile, the governor of Central Sulawesi, Anwar Hafid, admitted that he is optimistic that there will be things that can be worked together between Central Sulawesi and East Java. He said that Central Sulawesi has great potential but still needs assistance and quality improvement. “Thank you to Mrs. Governor Khofifah who initiated this collaboration so that apart from potential, we can also develop even better,” said Anwar. He even admitted that he was very lucky to be able to meet and learn directly from Governor Khofifah. Like the potential of Musang King Durian in Central Sulawesi, how can it be developed later to gain added value. On that occasion, the Cooperation Agreement (CPA) between the East Java OPD and Central Sulawesi OPD was signed as a strengthening of synergy and cooperation between the two regions.
