On Thursday, the Directorate for Enforcement (ED) seized unexplained assets worth more than Rs 32 crore after attacking 13 places in Mumbai and Hyderabad under the continued investigation into the alleged illegal soil development and money laundering. In terms of the provisions of the Money Laundry Prevention Act (PMLA), an attack performed on May 14 and 15 is in cash and diamond studied jewelry and gold worth about Rs 23.25 crore. This case is related to the illegal construction of residential-CUM commercial buildings on government and private land under the jurisdiction of Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) since 2009, according to the ED, the corporation has approved a sewerage treatment plant and a landfill under the development scheme. Over time, 41 illegal buildings were built. The Ed says the buildings were built considering that they would eventually be demolished for development work. The builders deceived the general public and committed serious fraud. The name of two VVMC officials Sitaram Gupta and Arun Gupta and others were also included in the ED investigation. They claim that the buildings were built with the connection with corrupt corporations officials, who approved for illegal construction. Central government officials also seized the premises of ice Reddy, Deputy Director of VVMC Town Planning and seized Rs 8.6 crore with diamond jewelry and bully. On July 8 last year, the Bombay High Court ordered the demolition of 41 illegal buildings. When the residents approached the Supreme Court to stop, the Apex Court refused and all the buildings were demolished on February 20.
