Election Commission's surgical strike before Bihar election! Registration of 334 political parties canceled, know what is the reason?

The Electoral Commission took a big step on Saturday and canceled the registration of 334 non-recognized political parties, ie RPP. These parties have not disputed a single election since 2019 and were unable to get a physical speech from their offices. In such a situation, these parties did not meet the compulsory conditions of being registered as a registered political party. Prior to the Bihar meeting election, this movement of the commission is considered an important initiative to clear the political system. What is the AUPP and why was this action taken? RUPP, ie registered non-recognized political parties, is political parties registered in the Electoral Commission but has not yet received the recognition of national or state level. These parties are registered under Article 29A of the representation of the People’s Representation Act 1951 in India. After registration, they get special benefits such as tax exemption. There were a total of 2,854 rupps in the country, of which only 2,520 left after the Electoral Commission action. No physical existence of the offices of these parties was found. When the commission investigated, these parties were only limited to papers. Some RUPPs have also been found to violate the income tax rules and anti -money laws. What are the rules for cancellation of registration? The Electoral Commission was previously prevented by the Supreme Court to have “cancellation” of political parties, as there is no provision in the law. But the commission has discovered a method of ‘detailing’. Delisting means that these parties have been removed from the list of registered parties. In terms of the rules of the Electoral Commission, under section 29A of the Representation of the People’s Representation Act, 1951, and in accordance with the election mark (Reservation and Award), 1968, if a registered party does not participate in the Lok Sabha, meeting or local body elections, its registration can be canceled. However, these parties can apply for re -registration of any new recognition process. How many political parties are left in the country now? There are now 6 national parties, 67 parties at the state level and 2,520 rupps left in the country. The commission has done such a 3-4 times cleaning since 2001. This time in June 2025, 345 parties were established, of which 334 registration was canceled. Parties from the list will no longer be able to field their candidates in the election. This step before Bihar election is also important because it will increase transparency in the political process and combat false parties. Such parties are indeed only on paper and may be involved in tax exemption, money laundering or other illegal activities. Share this story -tags
