Electricity workers will strike on July 9 to protest against privatization

A conference of electricity staff from the northern zone states was held here on Tuesday under the auspices of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOE), a top body of power staff and engineers. The conference condemned the privatization of electricity and ignored the claims of electricity workers and announced a nationwide general strike on July 9. There will be joint meetings of consumers and employees across the country for the success of the strike. Hundreds of office bearers and activists from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Rajasthan participated in the conference and approved the proposal for the current strike by the committee convener Supeep Dutta. The conference condemned the decision on the privatization of Purvancal and Dakshinchal Discom by the UP government and it was decided to showcase Solidarity across the country on July 2 in support of the constant excitement of UP Power Workers. EEFI National Vice President Subhash Lamba said electricity is service for the government and business for the private company. He said electricity to privatization will be outside the arms and farmers. He said the notice of the eighth payment commission, despite the announcement, was not issued. He said claims such as old pension recovery, regulation of contract workers, to fill vacancies by permanent recruitment, are ignored. Devendra Singh Hooda, chairman of the NHPC union, said all organizations in Haryana will strike on July 9 with Solidarity. Share this story -tags
