Elephant injured by each explosion of Naxalites in Saranda Forest of Jharkhand

CHAIBASA, OCTOBER 6 (IANS). The IED (improvised explosives) installed by Naxalites in Saranda Forest in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand caused a wild elephant’s life due to explosion. The right leg of this female elephant was severely injured. After receiving the information, the team of the forest division and veterinarians reached the place on Monday and after about four hours of hard efforts, the primary treatment of the injured elephant began. During the treatment, the medicine was mixed with banana and given to the elephant he ate. The forest division team is now constantly monitoring it so that the infection does not increase. Sanjay Kumar, a veterinarian, said that the elephant received antibiotics, pain relievers and inflammatory medicine. He said that the condition of the elephant is critical, but we try our best to take it to a safe place and provide better treatment. It has been reported that the injured elephant is about 10 to 12 years old, who cannot walk at the moment. Bos division officials believe that explosives laid in the forest by Naxalites have also become a serious threat to wildlife. This is not the first time that elephants in Saranda have become the victim of IED’s of Naxalites. Earlier on July 5, a six -year -old elephant died after being injured in an explosion in the same area. Local villagers loved the elephant named ‘Gadru’. He was injured in the explosion on June 24 and kept aching for a few days. The forest division then withdrew the help of the Medical Rescue Team of Gujarat’s institution ‘Vantara’, but despite all the efforts, the elephant could not survive. -Ians SNC/ABM shares this story tags
