Elon Musk's Starlink Get License -Nod in India as Airtel, Jio Working along with SpaceX for Internet Services | Mint

Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite -Internet Service received License from India. According to the Minister of Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, it has opened ‘next boundary of connectivity’ for India. It comes to Airtel, Jio, who works with SpaceX in March to provide internet services to clients. Scindia held a ‘productive meeting’ with Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of Starlink owner SpaceX. Shotwell “appreciates the license granted to Starlink and calls it a good start to the trip,” the minister said at X. What is Starlink? Starlink is a satellite-based Internet service founded by SpaceX, the US aviation and spacecraft firm founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, the richest man of the world. With the help of satellite technology, it produces high velocity, low-latency broadband internet around the world and is often appropriately referred to as a broadband rising from the air. It uses the world’s largest low earth rigid or leo constellation (550 km above the earth) as opposed to conventional satellite services that depend on feathers geostationary satellites. The introduction of Starlink, which offers high-speed access to remote locations using low-earth orbit satellites, has led to outrage in India on issues such as robbery prices and spectrum award. Airtel and Jio Partnership in March announced two of India’s largest telecommunications providers, namely Jio Platforms and its rival Bharti Airtel, partnerships with SpaceX to offer Starlink Internet Services to their clients. However, the tension arose between SpaceX owner Elon Musk and the richest man of Asia, Mukesh Ambani, who owns Jio platforms, about the method of granting satellite spectrum. The offers consist of the sale of Starlink’s equipment through Jio and Airtel’s retail networks, while Jio will also offer customer service, installation and activation support. According to reports, it will emphasize the provision of high-speed internet to businesses, health care centers, schools and remote communities across India. “Our collaboration with SpaceX to bring Starlink to India strengthens our dedication and is a transformative step towards seamless broadband connectivity for all,” NDTV quoted Mathew Oommen, group CEO of Reliance Jio. Airtel’s managing director and vice chairman, Gopal Vittal, said: “Working with SpaceX to offer Starlink to Airtel customers in India is an important milestone.” Although Musk’s business presence in India is currently limited to X, its electric vehicle business, Tesla, is ready to enter the Indian market.
