EMMYS 2025: Christopher Lennertz Wins Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for the Boys
At the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys Last Weekend (September 7 and 8), Christopher Lennertz Took Home the Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for His Song “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas,” from The Boys. He beat out fellow nomines kristen Anderson-lopez and Robert Lopez, for “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road” (Agatha all along); Nicholas Britell and Tony Gilroy, for “We Are the Ghor (Planetary Anthem)” (Elder); Adam Sandler and Dan Bulla, for “Adam Sandler’s Song: 50 Years” (SNL50: The Anniversary Special); and Sean Douglas, Kristen Wiig, and Josh Greenbaum, for “Harper and Will Go West” (Will & Harper). IT’S Lennertz’s First Emmy Award and Third Nomination.
Lennertz’s award is not to be confused with outstanding music composition for a series (Original Dramatic Score), Which Theodore Shapiro Won, for SeveranceNor Outstanding Music Composition for A Limited or Anthology Series, Movie, Or Special (Original Dramatic Score), Which Went to Mick Giacchino, for Pledge.
Plenty of musicians were nominated for emmy awards this year, including Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kujasi Washington, Caroline Shaw, Hamilton Leithauser, Mark Ronson, Hans Zimmer Thompson. Last Week, Lamar Won HIS Second Emmy, Taking Home the Creative Emmy for Outstanding Music Direction for The Apple Music Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show Starring Lamar Kendrickwhich was nominated for Seven Awards.
