Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the MPR Ri Am Akbar Supratman supports the discourse of implementing the policy of one person in one account on each social media platform. According to him, the policy is important to create a healthy, ethical and civilized digital space in Indonesia. “Social media has become a new public space. However, it is often abused for the spread of hoaks, slander, hate speech and digital fraud. One of the reasons is the use of a double or anonymous double account,” Akbar said in his statement, Friday (19/9/2025). Akbar explained that the policy will strengthen the personal responsibility of the community in cyberspace. He assessed that valid digital identity can also encourage the use of social media as a way of communication and healthier democracy participation. According to him, transparency and protection of personal data is an important factor, so that the policy does not cause new problems. “The government, especially the Ministry of Communications and Digital, must find the most appropriate method in its application. No less important, freedom of speech and opinion still need to be guaranteed,” Akbar said. Previously, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission Xii Bambang Haryadi suggested that each citizen has only one account on each social media platform. It aims to prevent the rise of anonymous accounts and false accounts that are often used to distribute false information. “In the future, it needs a single account to be integrated. So every citizen can only have one account on each social media platform. We learn from Switzerland, where one citizen has only one phone number integrated with the government and social media assistance facilities,” Bambang said.
