Entry of Brazilian defender in Punjab FC, one year contract with Pablo Renan dos Santos

Mohali, October 24 (IANS). Indian Super League (ISL) side Punjab FC on Friday announced the signing of experienced Brazilian centre-back Pablo Renan dos Santos on a one-year contract. Pablo, 33, joins the team on a free transfer ahead of the Indian Super Cup 2025 which starts on October 25 in Goa. This is Punjab FC’s second foreign signing this week, after signing Spanish midfielder Dani Ramirez on 22 October. Punjab FC technical director, Nikolaos Topoliatis, said: “We are very pleased to have San Pabloan that it has previously entered into a contract. to add a centre-back of Pablo’s quality and experience to the team. He brings exceptional defensive leadership, situational awareness and composure under pressure.” After joining Punjab FC, Pablo said, “Punjab FC is ready for a big season, and I am here to fight for the team and the fans who believe in me. I am ready to accept the challenge in India.” Pablo has over a decade of experience. They have played in Brazil, Europe and the Middle East. He started his professional career at Paysandu. He played six seasons in the Brazilian second and third divisions. In 2017, he moved to Europe and joined Portuguese Primeira Liga side CS Marítimo, where he played 25 matches. He received a five-year contract with SC Braga in 2018. While at Braga, Pablo continued his development through loans with Russian, Turkish and Portuguese clubs Rubin Kazan, Hatayspor and Moreirense.
