'Evacuate the house, it is the land of the grave'... Chhattisgarh Waqf Board's 'Tughlaqi' order, notice to 3 Hindu families
The Waqf Board in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, has sent notices to three Hindu families who claim the land belongs to a religious place. The Waqf Board has issued notices to three Hindu families in the Purani Basti police station area of Raipur, claiming that the land belongs to a religious place. In the notice, response is sought from Hindu families. The notice states that the land on which the families live in their houses belongs to Waqf. The families entered the land, and answers were sought. When the families received the Waqf notice by mail, they were shocked. The notice contains details of a plot of land measuring 0.101 hectare under Thasra 1888 and states that these Hindu families are illegally occupying this land. It was said in the notice that the land of 0.101 hectare Mazar-e-Sharif Khaki Shah Sahib in village tehsil Thasra number 88 of Raipur district is Waqf land registered in Madhya Pradesh Gazette. It is clearly written in the notice that this land is registered in the name of Waqf. In the notice sent to the Hindu families by the Mutawalli of the Dargah on behalf of the Waqf, it was said that they had illegally occupied the Waqf land. They were also asked to answer for this illegal occupation. If the families do not provide correct answers, legal action will be taken against them. Difficulties faced by all three families: After reading this notice, the families were shocked. Among the families to whose homes this notice was sent were Dr SN Johri, Arvind Aggarwal and Rajesh. Rajesh told that he bought his land in 2007 and has been living there with his family since then. Moreover, the Khasra number given in the notification is different from the Khasra number of their country. They responded to the Waqf notice along with their lawyer and also asked for the Khasra number of the Waqf land so that they can take further legal action. Rent was also demanded. Waqf Board Chairman Salim Raza said the notice issued was within the rules. If the answers and documents submitted are found to be correct, they will be given an extension of one to three months.
