Exemption of Egyptian passports from the customs duties for mobile phones – ryan
The Egyptian Customs Authority announced the customs exemption on mobile phones imported from abroad for Egyptian passports holders only, starting today, Friday.
As for foreign passports holders, they get temporary customs exemption for a period of three months, and pre -registration is not required, and in the event that foreign passports holders want to pay the fees, the payment is through the allocated phone application.
The National Communications Regulatory Authority and the Egyptian Customs Authority announced last January the activation of an electronic system for registering imported smartphones through the “phone” application and the collection of the fees imposed on it.
Every person coming from abroad has the right to acquire one imported phone without paying any fees on it, provided that it is disclosed inside the customs department and recorded his data, or registration through the “phone” application.
And he gave the organization of communications owners of imported mobile phone for a period of 90 days from the date of activation of the decision, last January, to pay the fees imposed on the phone in the event that he was resident in Egypt, or leaving and accompanied by his phone if he is a visitor.
The Egyptian Customs Authority set the fees imposed on the phones coming from abroad with a value of 37.5% of the phone price, to be applied on the second phone of the owner.
