US Vice President JD Vance met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the first day of his visit to India and considered him a ‘great leader’. Vance also expressed gratitude for the host of his family in the prime minister’s home in New -Delhi. In response to the post of Premier Modi, Vance said: “It was an honor to see Premier Modi tonight. He is a wonderful leader and he was incredibly friendly to my family.” “I look forward to working under President Trump’s leadership to strengthen our friendship and cooperation with the people of India!” After meeting Vance, Modi posted, “Stay to welcome US Vice President JD Vance and his family into New Delhi. We have checked the rapid progress after my visit to the US and gathered with President Trump. We are committed to mutually beneficial collaboration, also in trade, technology, defense, energy and people-to-person exchanges.” In another post, he said, “I look forward to strengthening our country’s relationship with India, and thanking him for his country’s heartfelt welcome and hospitality.” The US Vice President, who is currently on a four-day official visit to India, arrived with his family in Delhi on Monday and left for Jaipur. As part of the itinerary, he is scheduled to visit Agra on April 23. The visit concludes with their departure from India at 24:40 on April 24. The visit is carefully on the heel of a positive and successful meeting between President Trump and Premier Modi in Washington. What was discussed at the Modi-ViVCE meeting? During their meeting, Modi and Vance confirmed the strong partnership between the two countries. They officially launched a new initiative named The India-US Compact (Catalyzing opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce & Technology) for the 21st century. According to a statement from the US Vice President’s office, the initiative is based on mutual trust, shared interests, goodwill and strong connections between the people of both countries. The two leaders also noted progress in discussions for an American Indian Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and announced that the terms of reference have been finalized for the negotiations. The statement of Vvce’s office said: “Vice President Vance and Prime Minister Modi have welcomed significant progress in negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement in the US and India and formally announcing the finalization of reference conditions for the negotiations, which imposed a roadmap for further discussions on our shared economic priorities.” It is said that BTA offers an opportunity to negotiate a new and modern trade agreement focused on promoting job creation and civil well -being in both countries. The goal is to improve bilateral trade and supply chain integration in a balanced and mutually beneficial way. “Led by their respective visions of ‘Amrit Bald for India’ and ‘Golden Age for America’, BTA is expected to create new opportunities for growth for workers, farmers and entrepreneurs in both countries,” the statement says.
