Expedition Team Member Dies, Transfer: A Path Not Easy, But Noble
Jakarta – One of the IPB University students who was a member of the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP), Anggit Bima Wicaksana, died due to a traffic accident in Tomage, Fakfak Regency, West Papua. Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans), Iftitah Sulaiman, said that the deceased was not just a student and not just a program participant. He is a young Indonesian patriot. “He chose the path of service, a path that is not easy, but noble. He came to the eastern end of the country not to seek comfort, but to give meaning to everyone,” says Iftitah in his statement, Thursday (23/10/2025). This ceremony was held by the Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) which was directly led by honoring the services and sacrifices of the deceased who died in the line of duty. “A patriot who died in service. There is no higher sacrifice than giving up body and soul and Bimo did it. I still remember his last message to his father, ‘Father, I want to practice my knowledge for the Papuan people, for the Land of Papua’,” he continued. It is known that the late Bimo (his nickname) was the TEP Coordinator of IPB stationed in Bomberay Transmigration Area, Fakfak, West Papua. During his lifetime, the deceased was active as chairman of Soil Science Force 58, HMIT Supervisory Board, Field Coordinator of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Practical Assistant for Practical Surveying, Mapping and Land Evaluation. “He could have chosen an easy path in life, because a child as smart as him has many choices. However, he chose a difficult path, a noble path, to build Indonesia from the front lines of the Republic of Indonesia together with the people in the regions that need the presence of the state the most,” says Iftitah. Iftitah together with the Ministry of Transmigration team led the evacuation of the deceased Bimo’s body directly from the transmigration area to the funeral home in the Bintaro area, South Tangerang, Banten. When he picked up the deceased in Fakfak, Iftitah received many testimonials from other TEP participants and officials of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda). They shared the various services of the deceased who was known as a true leader, an influential figure who was humble, compact and always put the interests of others first. In fact, the deceased invited many of his colleagues to become TEP participants. “This is the true meaning of the word patriot who does not wait for the call, but comes first to act,” said Iftitah. As a result of this commitment, the Ministry of Transmigration specifically requested the state that the late Bimo be buried in a respectable place not far from his parents’ house, at the Tanah Kusir TPU, precisely in the Pejuang Block. Ifitah said history seems to be turning today in a poignant way. A young patriot who served in the land of transmigration now rests beside the founder of the great idea for which he fought. “It is not a coincidence because in this place the first vice president of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Mohammad Hatta, is also buried, the figure who initiated transmigration as a great movement to build justice and industrialization outside Java,” said Iftitah. Say goodbye to the practice of knowledge in Papua. At the same event, the father of the late Bimo, Ngatno Prawiro Parjan, could not hold back the tears when he gave a speech on behalf of the family. Before leaving to serve in Bomberay, Fakfak, the late Bimo expressed his desire to practice the knowledge he had in the Land of Papua. Ngatno said that Bimo gained knowledge that he never knew before. His last message to himself was that he wanted to practice his knowledge in Papua for his friends there. “This is what always rings in my head, in my memory. But this is his spirit. I, as a parent, leave all the decisions to him. And today he has successfully completed his duties, his country’s duties, his age’s duties, and his Rabb’s duties. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala accept him,” said Ngatno as he sobbed. Furthermore, he said that his party expressed its gratitude to President Prabowo, to the Minister of Transmigration and his staff, and to IPB which has become a second home for his son, Anggit Bima Wicaksana. His party apologized and thanked him if there was a mistake on his part. “We are especially very grateful to the government that gives extraordinary awards to our children who live simply, even more simply than I imagined. Thank you, I have no more words. We apologize and ask for forgiveness,” he continued. Also watch the video ‘Transmigration sends 2,000 researchers to develop transmigration areas’: (prf/ega)
