Police in Kolkata have issued guidelines to stop crime during Durga Puja
Kolkata, September 15 (IANS). In light of the Feast of Durga Puja, the Kolkata police have taken special steps to maintain law and order in the city. Police Commissioner Manoj Verma recently issued several guidelines in this regard. This announcement of the police commissioner was made during the monthly meeting held on Monday, in which the authorities discussed various measures to further strengthen the security system in the city. According to the police officer, a large number of people from different districts and states come to the city during Durga Puja. In such a situation, criminal elements become active during the festival. Therefore, the station of each police station of the Kolkata police was instructed to be additional vigilance and to investigate safety arrangements in their respective areas. The police officer said the police commissioner specially instructed that every police station should ensure that CCTV cameras were installed in important places in their area and that they worked properly or not. All of these reports were also ordered to immediately send Lalbazar (headquarters of the city police). In addition, the Kolkata police’s intelligence section was also instructed to stay active. From ‘Watch section’ to the Anti-Prodi section and Women’s Battalion were asked to always be ready. The Police Commissioner also ordered that patrolling should be expanded in the important intersections and crowded areas of the city at night and morning. In particular, security will be strengthened in these areas to prevent any unforeseen incident. As every year, even this time, there is an increase in crimes during Durga Puja. According to police resources, incidents such as robbery, robbery and theft increased during this time. In addition, incidents of attacks and chintis have also increased in many areas in the morning step. The police officer also made clear that no negligence would be tolerated to prevent crimes during Durga Puja. Each police station was also instructed to expedite and act public grievances.
