The A Cappella Group Pentatonix recorded Fleet Foxes’ White Winter Hymnal for their 2014 album It’s Christmas for me. A recent performance over Good morning america Has the song back in our heads. The lyrics are a little abstract and possibly even morbid. But hey, it’s about winter and they call Snow and the group put it on a Christmas album, so we include it in our holiday video series. Plus it sounds just that cool! Accompanied by only their clapping, snaps and claps, watching Pentatonix singing ‘White Winter Hymnal’ in the video above.
Members of Pentatonix are Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin MaldonadoMatt Sallee, and Kevin Olusola. The group, founded in 2011, released 12 studio albums (including several Christmas albums). They have three Grammy Awards; two for best arrangement, instrumental or a cappella and one for the best Landduo/group performance for their cooperation with Dolly Parton On her song “Jolene.”
Maldonado has her Broadway debut in 2018 in Kinky boots If Lauren, after several Broadway favorite in the role, including Annaleigh Ashford, Jeannna the Waaland Taylor louderman.
Pentatonix can currently be seen in the 2023 Christmas film Candy Cane Lane On Amazon Prime (they play Carolers turned into small figurines through an evil eleven). Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross Star, along with an appearance of the Tony winner David Alan Grier As Santa.
