The murder of Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavraju, secretary secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) Nambala Keshav Rao Alias Basavaraju, is the biggest shock to the banned organization in police action in Chhattisgarh. The CPI (Maoist) is now facing disintegration after being surrounded by security forces in the forests of Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra. According to the government’s data, 401 Naxalites were killed in the state between December 1, 2023 and May 21, 2025, while 1.355 surrendered. In December 2023, Vishnu Dev Sai Sarkar came to power in Chhattisgarh and has since been coordinated action by the central and state government against the Maoists in their last stronghold Chhattisgarh.
