Fake foreign liquor factory in Dhanbad, Jharkhand arrested, liquor worth Rs 70 lakh seized
Dhanbad, October 17 (IANS). In Jharkhand’s Dhanbad district, the Excise Department team on Friday raided Sonardih and Tetulmari police station areas and unearthed an illegal mini liquor factory. During the raid, adulterated foreign liquor, spirits, packaging machines and other materials worth around Rs 70 lakh were seized. The first action took place in Koiridih of Sonardih police station area, where a person named Suraj Mahato stored fake foreign liquor in the BCCL (Bharat Coking Coal Limited) quarters. About 50 cartons of foreign liquor were taken from the place. The premises were immediately sealed off and the local people were questioned. Preliminary investigation revealed that Suraj Mahato is related to Dinesh Tudu, resident of Tilatand, Tetulmari. After this, the Excise Department and the Tetulmari Police Station raided Tudu’s house. Here the team found large-scale illegal liquor manufacturing and packaging activities. During the raid, about 150 bags of bottles filled with liquor, 800 liters of spirits, labels, caps of various liquor brands, bottle filling and punching machines used for packaging fake foreign liquor were taken from the premises. Excise Inspector Amit Kumar said the total estimated value of the seized material is Rs 70 lakh. He said that the main accused Suraj Mahato and Dinesh Tudu fled before the raid. An FIR has been registered against both of them under the Excise Act and raids are on for their arrest. Besides Excise Department officers Joy Hembram, Kuldeep Kumar and Satyendra Kumar, police teams from Sonardih and Tetulmari police stations were included in the raid team.
