Mumbai, October 23 (IANS). Renowned singer-songwriter King is known for hit songs like ‘Maan Meri Jaan’, ‘Tu Jaana Na Piya’ and ‘Tu Aake Dekh Le’. These days he plays the role of a mentor in the music reality show ‘I-Popstar’. He shared the story behind his success in a special interview given to IANS. “When you get a chance to go into spaces that are ten times bigger than your personality, you learn. A person like me learns from that. When people in a room are bigger than you, your mind subconsciously starts trying to keep up with them or be on par with them. I always make sure I keep it that way,” King told IANS. He went on to say: “I don’t go to places where there is no advantage. Where I am the greatest, my growth will stop. I want to go among people better than me, to learn. This is where one grows.” Earlier releasing his album ‘Shayed Koi Na Sune’, King said that he doesn’t want to make something just to fill playlists or top the charts. Sharing his thoughts on the album with People, King previously said, “With ‘Maybe No One Will Listen,’ I didn’t want to make something that would just fill playlists or fill the charts, I wanted to make something that stayed with you even when no one was around.” The singer-songwriter said that these songs are his thoughts that have been in his mind for a long time, but he never expressed openly. He said: “This wasn’t some made-up idea or words. I called it ‘Shayed Koi Na Sune’ because I knew no one might hear it, and that’s okay. I made it for those moments when you’re honest with yourself, even if the world isn’t listening. If even one person feels a little less alone after hearing enough of me, that.” –IANS JP/ABM Share this story Tags
